Miniature Ocean Candles

Here is something we did with our girls in Leduc as one part of the water element of the 4 elements challenge badge.

We made miniature oceans!

We bought

  • small rounded candle jars
  • gel candle wax
  • wicks
  • miniture shells
  • colored rocks
  • colored sand
  • small ocean ornaments (sea horses, anchors etc.)

The girls put wicks and sand in the bottom of their small jars and then decorated the bottom of their "oceans" with the accessories.

We then spooned the gel wax over top and hung a small metal fish in the wax with wire so it would not sink to the bottom.

We pulled out the wire when the gel had set.

The girls made fabulous miniature ocean candles!!

Note: do not ad glitter to wax as this makes more bubbles and the hotter the wax the less bubbles you get in the jar.

To many bubbles and it is hard to see what is in the jar.

Have Fun, We did
