Across Canada Challenge - Yukon
Spark unit had a Gold Mine Treasure Hunt.
We had it in the evening and attached glow sticks to the girls and our clues,
for better visibility.
Some of the things the girls had to do to get to the next clues were
-
pretend to snowshoe through the snow,
-
paddle down the MacKenzie river,
-
go ice fishing,
-
look for an igloo,
-
go over a mountain pass
-
and eventually find the gold mine where they panned for gold to receive
their "Alasie" badge.
This was a big hit with the girls, it was probably the first time a lot of
them had been outside in the dark, and a few of them were nervous at first, but
then they really got into hunting for the clues and were fine, the glowsticks
helped too. They also made it really easy to see where the girls were at all
times.
We had a really good time with this!
