Bright Ideas - Program

Mother's Day Event

It was getting close to the year and my unit of pathfinders needed something to get a lot of program work done. I came up with a Mother's Day Event.

The girls were given this challenge and if you go through the program book, you will see that a lot of challenges are covered by this.

  • Plan the day for you and your family.
  • The purpose of this is so you can get used to planning events and cover a lot of program work.
  • It's up to you how much want to do; but remember, the more you do, the more program gets done and I'm sure your mother will appreciate your efforts.
  • Discuss this with your family; you will need their help:
    • (1) Make an Agenda for the day....to be returned to the leaders.
    • (2) Prepare a budget for food and anything else you will need to buy. If you do not have to buy groceries, estimate the cost and include it in your budget.....to be returned to the leaders.
    • (3) Plan what to do for the day with your family keeping in mind what the whole family would enjoy. Remember, you are going to be a leader not a boss. If there is tension between you and your siblings, try to be fair.
    • (4) Plan and prepare the main meal....well balanced. (you will need help from your family excluding your mom).
    • (5) If there are any chores to be done...help with that.
    • (6) Make a gift, if possible, and a card for your mom (let those artistic juices flow)
    • (7) Get your mom to do an evaluation of your efforts.

The mothers enjoyed what their daughters did for them and the girls scored brownie points with their mothers.
