Bright Ideas - Program

Night Time Scavenger Hunt

This is a great way to start preparing Pathfinders for night trek activities.

Place the items in a field, or playing area where it is safe for the girls to play at night. It is ideal for a camp site.

Divide the girls into team sof 3 - 5 players

Provide the teams with a list of clues

Let them have one flashlight per team, with the head of the flashlight covered with red cellophane

Place the clues or pictures of the clues randomly along a route that covers the playing area

Give them a time limit, and strict boundaries and let the teams find all the clues. You can have small prizes at each item or a piece of paper to identify that they found the item that they take with them. Make sure there is enough for everyone!

Some examples of clues and things hidden are:

I cover a baked potato piece of foil wrap
I am used to attach hat crafts to hats safety pin
I stretch and stretch and stretch elastic
You can write notes on me paper
You need me to write a note pen
I am useful for campfires, and for building wood
You should use this to fill your water bottle water pump
You eat me at campfires after roasting until golden marshmallows
Under my boughs you will be dry when it is raining tree
Never pitch your tent too close to me river

Make up clues to suit your playing area, and what you can find
