Text Message Relay
Requires

Large sheet of paper, poster sized, one per team
Divide into teams of 3 to 6 two bigger teams are more fun than 3 or four
smaller!
Prepare, or have teams prepare, a telephone number keypad per team, with
numbers and letters, drawn large on the poster sized sheet of paper artistic
flair at their or your discretion
Ask each girl come up with two or three 4- to 6-letter words each, written
large, each on an index card or notepad sheet.
Put up the keyboard posters at chest height on a wall
Split the words at random into two or three rounds, and place all the words
for a given round up on the wall to be visible to people at the posters
Review the text messaging concept and how each letter relates to the number
key, and the second or third letters on the key are transmitted by two or three
taps on the key respectively.
A referee should oversee the play at the poster, one per team details of
play, penalties, retakes, etc. however you like.
Teams line up and first members run up, tap in their text message word, run
back and tag up the next member who does the next word and so on.
Plays like any relay of bygone days, but with a whole new technology to play
with, and meets program goals looking at codes, and communication methods.
